The Practical Pistol Skills course is a performance-based training program designed to develop confident, accountable, and efficient pistol handling in realistic shooting applications.
This course is built around one principle: measurable improvement.
Every block of instruction focuses on building repeatable mechanics, refining decision-making under time, and producing consistent, accountable hits — not just sending rounds downrange.

Whether you are new to structured pistol training or looking to sharpen existing capability, this course develops foundational performance that transfers directly to defensive, duty, or competitive environments.

Core Performance Areas:
Firearm Safety - Safety is non-negotiable. Students will build disciplined gun-handling habits, proper storage practices, and professional range conduct — creating a controlled and accountable training environment.
Shooting Fundamentals - Develop and refine the pillars of performance — grip, stance, sight management, and trigger control. Instruction focuses on eliminating inefficiencies and building consistency that holds up under time pressure.
Practical Shooting Applications
Apply fundamentals to real-world shooting tasks, including:
-
Efficient presentation from the holster
-
Multiple target engagement
-
Shooting while moving
-
Maintaining visual discipline under increasing speed demands
Timed Performance Drills - Structured, timed drills introduce accountability and decision-making pressure. Students learn to balance speed and accuracy while maintaining appropriate confirmation levels.

Reloading and Malfunction Management - Build efficient reload mechanics and clear common stoppages without breaking visual focus or composure — maintaining performance during dynamic shooting problems.

Training Emphasis
This is a hands-on, high-engagement course designed to:
-
Build consistent and repeatable mechanics
-
Improve visual processing and shot accountability
-
Develop efficient gun handling under time constraints
-
Increase confidence through measurable performance standards
The objective is not temporary improvement — it is sustainable performance development. Students leave with clear practice pathways to continue improving speed, accuracy, and control beyond the course.
Whether your goal is personal defense, duty performance, or competition, this course builds the foundation required to perform at higher levels with confidence and accountability.

Required Equipment
-
Iron-sighted pistol or pistol with red dot sight (mounted and zeroed)
-
Ear and eye protection
-
Duty-grade holster and minimum 2 magazine pouches
(USPSA belt and holster systems welcome) -
Minimum 3 magazines (5 recommended)
-
Rain gear

300 rounds of ammunition recommended (more is encouraged)
Practical Pistol
Practical Pistol 2 Day
This 2 Day course serves as the performance expansion of Practical Pistol — designed for shooters ready to move beyond isolated fundamentals and into integrated, high-efficiency gun handling.

The focus is simple: run the gun at speed while maintaining accountability.
Rather than revisiting basics at a surface level, this course refines and pressure-tests the core mechanics required to achieve high levels of speed and precision. Students will learn how to manage confirmation levels, apply efficient gun handling, and stack skills into seamless execution.

Core Performance Areas
Vision, Grip, and Trigger Manipulation - Refine the foundational pillars of shooting with emphasis on appropriate confirmation levels. Learn to apply only the visual information necessary for the difficulty of the shot — eliminating over-aiming and hesitation.

Transitions - Develop efficient target-to-target movement driven by vision, body mechanics, and predictive control of the gun.

Reloads
Increase efficiency and consistency while maintaining visual discipline and tempo.
Reactive Shooting - Respond to visual information in real time. Fire once sufficient confirmation is achieved — not before, not after.

Predictive Shooting - Build a refined index and understanding of how the gun behaves in recoil. Learn to trust visual inputs and gun tracking to maintain accuracy at higher speeds.
Movement - Incorporate dynamic movement without sacrificing balance, control, or accountability.
Skill Stacking & Integration
This course introduces structured skill stacking — combining isolated competencies into layered application drills. Students will integrate:
-
Draw + confirmation management
-
Transitions + recoil control
-
Reloads under pressure
-
Movement combined with predictive/reactive processes
The objective is to move from mechanical understanding to fluid execution.
You will leave with:
-
A clearer understanding of your performance ceilings
-
Structured drills to continue improving independently
-
A defined pathway to increase speed without sacrificing accuracy
This is where mechanics become performance.

Required Equipment
-
Pistol with iron sights or red dot sight (mounted and zeroed)
-
Ear and eye protection
-
Duty-grade holster
-
Minimum of 2 magazine pouches on belt
-
Minimum 3 magazines (5 recommended)
-
USPSA-style gear welcome
-
Rain gear
-
750 rounds of ammunition recommended (more is encouraged)

Practical Pistol & Rifle Hybrid
The Practical Pistol & Rifle Hybrid class is built to increase measurable shooting performance with both pistol and rifle platforms. Designed for shooters of all skill levels, this course focuses on improving speed, accuracy, efficiency, and consistency under realistic performance demands.

Our training methodology centers on developing controllable speed and repeatable accuracy — the two metrics that define effective shooting performance. Rather than simply teaching techniques, we train performance standards that translate directly to practical application.

Throughout the course, we break down and optimize the three foundational performance pillars of shooting: Grip, Vision, and Trigger Control. Each block of instruction is structured to produce observable improvements in recoil management, shot accountability, target transitions, and decision-making under time constraints.

Grip: Building a Stable Performance Platform
Grip is the foundation of recoil control, shot-to-shot efficiency, and mechanical consistency across both platforms.
Participants will:
-
Establish a performance-based grip that maximizes recoil management
-
Improve split times without sacrificing accountability
-
Refine hand placement for consistency across pistol and rifle
-
Identify inefficiencies that slow follow-up shots

Through structured drills and recoil diagnostics, shooters will develop a repeatable grip that supports higher output performance while maintaining control.

Vision: Driving Speed with Information Processing
High-level shooting performance is driven by visual discipline and information processing speed.
This block focuses on:
-
Target acquisition efficiency
-
Sight picture management at varying distances
-
Visual patience vs. acceptable sight picture standards
-
Transition speed between targets
-
Processing the appropriate level of visual information for the required shot
Participants will train their ability to adjust visual focus based on difficulty, distance, and time constraints — allowing them to shoot at the speed the situation allows rather than at a fixed pace.

Trigger Control: Minimizing Input, Maximizing Accountability
Trigger manipulation directly determines shot placement and consistency.
Students will:
-
Eliminate unnecessary gun movement during trigger press
-
Improve consistency of shot placement under time
-
Develop an understanding of acceptable sight disturbance
-
Learn to control input while maintaining tempo
This portion of training reinforces accountability — every shot must meet the performance standard.
